Carl ‘Rocky’ Mason is the owner of ESO Film & TV Security; a familiar face associated with numerous productions up and down the country, as well as overseas. Rocky and his staff adopt a hands-on approach when it comes to running a safe and secure film set or location and it's this professional attitude and attention to detail that facilitates the continued return of location managers, time after time.
Rocky left school aged sixteen and was one of the chosen few to sucessfully complete his training, allowing him the honour of serving his country as a Royal Marine Commando for ten years, subsequently receiving an exemplary discharge,
His first taste of maritime security came as a military advisor to Mearsk shipping during the First Gulf War. At the end of the conflict, and with a thirst for adventure, Rocky started work as an international bounty hunter in Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. He has travelled the world's most dangerous waterways, protecting cargo ships, supertankers and super yachts and, as a result, has had more than his fair share of pirate encounters.
After a mission in Abidjan, Ivory Coast went horribly
wrong and, prompted by the recent birth of his son
Toby, Rocky decided to stay in the UK for a while and
after a stint performing stunts in a host of TV shows
and movies, he formed the specialist company
ESO Film & TV Security, providing security and
bodyguards globally to the film and TV industry.
Rocky has provided dedicated security to a large number
of productions over the years: Melody, Golden Years,
Thirteen, Find the Girl, Doctor Thorne, The Widow,
The White Princess, The Spanish Princess, Casualty, Ray
and Liz, A Discovery of Witches, The Festival, The Coroner,
Colette, Outlaw King, Waiting for Anya and The Trial of
Christine Keeler. He has also overseen the security of
numerous television commercials.
Rocky is the author of 'Pirate Hunter' (Thistle Publishing - 3 Dec. 2013) and has also featured in a documentary about his adventures on the Discovery Channel.
Both Rocky and his staff very much look forward to being of assistance to you and your production...
